The Company:

Golden Heart Emergency Physicians is a democratic group of 10 physicians that employs 6 PA’s. We staff an Emergency Department that sees over 38,000 patients per year. Patient loads are reasonable, with 40 hours of MD coverage and 20 hours of PA coverage each day.

The Position:

We are looking for a full-time Physician Assistant to work in our Emergency Department. Must be PA certified.  ACLS, PALS and ATLS certification is preferred.

La Maestra Community Health Centers is currently seeking a Physician Assistant to work for our clinic in Seldovia, AK. The Physician Assistant will  work under the direction of the Medical Director and the supervising Physician, provides primary care services to clinic patients.


  1. Examines patients to determine presence of disease, utilizing physical findings, laboratory results, medical history, ascertains nature and extent of disease and prescribes treatments as indicated.
  2. Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination.
  3. Consults with Medical Director or supervisory physicians as needed for difficult cases not covered under protocols.
  4. Order appropriate treatments, medications and diagnostic studies.
  5. Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval.
  6. Respond to inquiries from referring physicians, hospital staff and patients regarding the diagnosis and treatment of conditions as well as eligibility for research protocols.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Other duties as assigned.
  2. Attend staff meetings


  • Education: Completion of Certified Physician Assistant training program.
  • Certification required:  Current Alaska Physician Assistant License. Current CPR and DEA
  • Experience:    At least one year experience working with underserved, low-income persons preferred.  A strong commitment to serve the medically underserved families.
Verbal and Written Skills to perform the job:  Bilingual (English/Spanish). Familiarity with basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.  Accurate keyboarding skills.

Technical knowledge and skills required to perform the jobExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills and the demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and groups.  Demonstrate high levels of self-initiation and direction. Knowledge of communities we serve. Knowledge and experience working in medical settings and interacting collaboratively with medical teams.  Skill in analyzing situations and making timely decisions.

Physical and Mental Requirements:  Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, using hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reaching with hands and arms.
