Proposed Regulation Changes

**February 27, 2026** The PA Regulation modernization proposal submitted by the SMB, AKAPA, ASMA, and Public working group has been submitted by the SMB to the Governor's office.

The new regulations will streamline PA state regulations held by the SMB.

  • Removal of redundant language and updating application procedures.
  • Removal of alternate physician requirement on collaborative plan.
  • "Collaboration plan" now called "Practice Agreement" and held at practice level.
  • "Periodic Assessment" now "Personalized Assessment".
  • Removal of language restricting scope of practice to collaborative scope.
  • Change remote restrictions (see document link on this page).
  • Grant prescriptive authority with license and DEA registration.
  • Removal of requirement to have sign stating collaborative plan available to public.  All providers to wear name tag with credentials per current statutes.
  • Change language attest to practice agreement in place.
